Chile’s scientific and technological opportunities in Astronomy

Chile will host approximately 70% of the world investment in ground based astronomy infrastructure by 2020.Eduardo Bendek, PhD Arizona University, Researcher at NASA and Councilor at the Chile-California Council, will lead a discussion on the challenges and opportunities related to the creation of an industry for Astronomy in Chile. The discussion will range from the technologies critical to astronomical instrumentation design and observatory operation to the role of universities and startups in the development of the industry.

In an effort to bolster both the force and range of our approach, we encourage the participation of experts in fields as diverse as engineering and business that share technology with astronomy as well as professionals and academics from other fields with an interest in participating in the development of this burgeoning industry.
