Doctoral Scholarship Competition in the UK “STFC GEMINI STUDENTSHIPS” 2008


Under the agreement to jointly sponsor the scholarship program “STFC GEMINI STUDENTSHIP”, National Commission for Scientific and Technological (CONICYT) and Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) UK, call for competition 2009 of their scholarships to Chilean students to pursue doctoral studies in astronomy, physics or related discipline, in UK universities that are part of STFC (http://www.stfc.ac.uk), British body representing his country at Gemini Observatory.

Gemini is a consortium of international cooperation in astronomy with participation of States, UK, Canada, Chile, Australia, Argentina and Brazil. Its aim is to advance the science of astronomy using his two telescopes 8.1 meters, one located on Mauna Kea, en Hawaii, U.S., and the other on Cerro Pachon, in Region IV in Chile.

The aim of this competition is to strengthen national scientific capacity in the area of ​​astronomy, supporting young Chileans with solid scientific vocation and high academic.


Can apply Chilean people who have a Bachelor's degree or Master, professional title in astronomy, physics or related discipline, to studies at a Chilean or foreign university, attesting good command of the English language.
