ALMA-CONICYT Fund: Development of Chilean Astronomy, Call 2012

It is reported that extends application deadline for the competition. The new closing date is the 25 May 2012, to 12:00 AM. Hours continental Chile

The competition is aimed at supporting the development of Chilean Astronomy. For example, by hiring new astronomers, postdocs and technicians, strengthening of graduate programs, initiatives theoretical nature the technological, without excluding other development initiatives of national astronomy which is difficult to find alternative sources of funding.

For this call, the Board is interested in receiving proposals that include multi-insitucionales collaborations for the development of the required infrastructure, instrumentation millimeter and sub-millimeter, human resources and expertise to support the community in the preparation of proposals and analysis of scientific data and interpretation of results obtained with ALMA.

  • Computer Supplies minor – Magazine subscriptions – Office supplies – Lower expenses.
  • Attendance at conferences and national and international events up to a maximum of 15.000.000 weights.

Capital Goods: Acquisition of equipment duly justified.

Maximum total amount awardable by CONICYT per project (yearly and total) and competition: 200 million pesos approximately

  • The ceiling of funding for multi-institutional projects is $180.000.000.- (hundred and eighty million pesos) two years of implementation
  • The maximum funding limit for Institutional projects is $90.000.000.- (ninety million pesos) two years of implementation.
  • The ceiling of funding for projects Principal Investigator with institutional sponsorship is $90.000.000.- (ninety million pesos) two years of implementation.

  • National institutions (universities, study centers, scientific societies, etc.), with legal, nonprofit, the public private, develop or undertake to pursue research or teaching work in astronomy, astrophysics and / or astronomical instrumentation, together with an investigator of the project, which should be linked to the entity. Only proposals in Institutional and Multi-institutional modality may request resources for recruitment of academic and postdocs.
  • Researchers responsible institutional sponsorship: academic researchers from the universities Nacionales, that have the formal support of the institution to which they belong.
  • Multi-institutions: two or more national institutions and a coordinator associated with an institution. In this case, should indicate which institution is the main. Only proposals in Institutional and Multi-institutional modality may request resources for recruitment of academic and postdocs.
