The formation of international research networks in science and technology can enhance, enrich and strengthen national systems and CTI, at the same time, contribute, both the solution of common problems like human capital formation necessary for the creation of knowledge to impact economic and social development of the countries.

In this context, one of the strategic objectives of the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research, CONICYT is to promote international partnerships to promote science and technology in Chile by supporting the participation of scientists of our country in excellent research conducted globally.

Under the above, CONICYT, through its International Cooperation Programme, launches tender for projects to strengthen international networks, linking the national scientific community with their counterparts abroad.

Objectives of the Contest:

Networking support to strengthen international links, in all areas of knowledge, between research centers and national scientific and technological centers of the countries listed below:

Total maximum amount per project adjudicated by CONICYT (anual y total) and competition:

The resources allocated through this competition will be used to finance the proposed forms of linkage. The maximum grant will finance $16.000.000.- (sixteen million pesos).

Benefits:

The forms of linkage with centers of scientific and technological research of the countries included in this call, are as follows:

A. Internships short refresher abroad, para doctorantes y postdoctorantes residentes en Chile, foreign research centers.

B. Stays in Chile, for researchers / as or academic / as foreign / as centers of national scientific and technological research.

C. Stays abroad, for researchers / scholars as the / as residents in Chile, in foreign research centers.

D. Conducting workshops on bilateral seminars in Chile, with the center or research institute project partner.

E. Access to the use of scientific and technological equipment, research at foreign institutions and / or research services, for researchers / scholars as the / as residents in Chile.

Centres Scientific and Technological Research nationals to meet the following conditions:

  • Center for Scientific Research and National Technological: Functional unit consisting investigation or formally recognized as such, with or without legal personality, formed by groups of researchers / the, specific research areas.
  • Research Centers with legal personality may apply for themselves, and those who do not possess it shall apply backed by a National Institution Main Sponsor.
  • Not be considered as Centers of Scientific and Technological Research Faculties, Departments and other academic and administrative units university.

  • Contest Start Date: 25 January 2017
  • Competition closing date: 12 April 2017, to 16:00 hrs. (Chile continental time).
  • New estimated date of award: November 2017
