Event Date: 18-04-2013

In order to present the results achieved by the project “Statistical modeling butyrate content of milk”, and analysis of different milks market, the workshop of the same name held at INIA Remehue Thursday 18 April 2013 to 10 AM.

The event will be attended by the Directors of CIEN Austral, Mauricio Lorca and INIA Remehue Francisco Salazar, besides producers and companies related to the dairy category.

The event will be led by Dr. Emilio Ungerfeld, researcher CIEN Austral, in collaboration with German Holmberg of INIA Remehue, who will show the results, for which a database constructed from 117 experiments published in 102 scientific articles, a total of 349 treatment means, to statistically model the effects of butyrate content in milk fat.

About butyrate

Butyrate is a naturally occurring fatty acid in milk has beneficial health properties. In the large intestine, butyrate can prevent tumor formation, and stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of intestinal epithelial cells.

Butyrate is an antibacterial agent and also stimulates the immune system in humans and rodents. Piglets and calves supplemented with butyrate usually gained more weight and improved feed conversion. In mice, butyrate decreased the incidence of diabetes. In the large intestine, butyrate from microbial fermentation can prevent tumor formation.
