"Renewable and Distributed Generation in a climate of change" is the title of the conference will present Marcelo Mena, director of the Research Center for Sustainability at the University Andres Bello, the next 28 August in the scientific lecture series "Wednesdays at the Academy,"Organized EXPLORE Program CONICYT and the Chilean Academy of Sciences.
The investigator will review the differences between the different types of energy generation, in terms of costs and environmental impacts, and show how solar energy can be generated at the level of houses and buildings, allowing "advance the electric energy supply without environmental conflicts", as proposed Mena.
"This conference is the fifth cycle 2013 on Wednesdays at the Academy and we will reveal the potential of Chile for solar power generation, one alternative energy-fossil origin in our territory, thus lessening the consequences and environmental impact of massive oil use, gas or coal ", Mariano stands Rosenzvaig, EXPLORE Program Director.

About the speaker
Marcelo Mena Biochemical Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Pontifical U. Católica de Valparaíso; Master of Science and Doctor Philosophy University of Iowa City (USA).
He received the "International Impact Award" from the University of Iowa, for his contribution in the field of air pollution. The award, out to those who have made a deep and substantial contribution to the global understanding.
