In Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, the 29 and 30 November were held Board Meetings and General Assembly of the Iberoamerican Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED), with the participation of the National Delegates Representatives and Signatories Organizations Latin American countries, with most of which CONICYT has signed Cooperation Agreements.
In the meetings attended by the President of CONICYT, José Miguel Aguilera Radic, in his capacity as representative of the Chilean Signatory Agency, and Program Coordinator of the International Relations Department CONICYT, Marlene Vargas Neira, in his capacity as National Executive.
The General Assembly elected the new Secretary General of the Program, hold that post Mr. Alberto Majo Piñeyrúa, of Uruguay, the period 2013-2015.
Also, Managers were chosen 6 of the 7 Program areas for the period 2013-2014, and agreements were made, inter alia, in respect of: CYTED Call Resolution 2012, which were approved 14 networks begin implementation in January next. Also form a Commission approved, Brazil comprising, Chile, Cuba and Panama, to make an assessment of the program and prepare a proposal for guidelines and suggestions, to be presented at the forthcoming EGM, to be held in June next year, in Buenos Aires. Concerning the Call 2013 was decided to postpone its opening until the holding of the EGM.
In Chile the Signatory Agency CYTED, is CONICYT. It is up to coordinate and support activities involving national researchers. Currently there 6 Chilean researchers are Thematic Networks International Coordinators and around 70 Chilean groups participating in projects and networks that are running.
What is the CYTED
The Ibero-American Science and Technology for Development (CYTED) was created in 1984 by Agency Framework Agreement signed by 19 Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Programme is a multilateral international scientific and technological cooperation in Ibero-America and horizontal.
CYTED main objective to contribute to the harmonious and sustainable development of the Latin American Region through collaboration and cooperation between the National Science and Technology (ONCYT), Organizations Promotion of Innovation, research groups from universities, the R & D and business in Latin America.
The CYTED cooperation operates in seven thematic areas: Agribusiness; Health; Industrial Development Promotion; Sustainable Development, Global Change and Ecosystems; Information Technology and Communications; Science and Society and Energy.
