Network Project

Under the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, financed from the European Union and the Government of Chile (through International Cooperation Agency), running the project "Supporting the Development of a Regional Innovation System to Promote Innovative Regions", also called "Project RED", whose agency is the Secretariat for Regional and Administrative Development (SUBDERE).

The overall project aims to contribute to deepening the process of regionalization and decentralization of the current innovation system, improving the efficiency of public investment and regional input to the development and competitiveness of the country, generating a politically and institutionally sustainable solution.

The specific objectives are RED Project:

  • Professionalizing management and investment decisions in regional innovation policies, with the support of European experts.
  • At this early stage, establish and design the Regional Innovation Strategy for the seven participating regions.
  • Build a network among European regions-Chilean energizes information, decisions and opportunities for regional innovation.

The participating regions are Arica and Parinacota; Tarapacá; Antofagasta; Coquimbo; Metropolitan; O’Higgins y Biobío.

Considering the above, each Regional Government, assigned at least M $ 150.000 to hire the service of Design and Development of Regional Innovation Strategies and Related Actions.

The regions that have worked with CONICYT are Tarapaca; Antofagasta; Coquimbo; Metropolitana y O’Higgins.
