PhD. Botánica, Universidad de Hawaii
Bióloga de la Universidad de Chile, obtuvo su Ph.D en Botánica en la Universidad de Hawaii (1989). Trabajó como investigador en la Universidad Católica del Norte entre los años 1990 y 1993 y posteriormente realizó un postdoctorado en la Pontificia Universidad Católica (1993-1996).Ha sido coordinador científico en distintos Programas de CONICYT participando desde 1996 en los inicios del Programa FONDAP de Biología Marina y Oceanografía que dirigiera el Dr. Juan Carlos Castilla.
Posteriormente fue coordinador de proyectos en FONDECYT en las áreas de Ciencias de la Tierra, Agronomía y Salud y Producción Animal, haciéndose cargo de la coordinación de las Líneas Complementarias de FONDECYT y finalmente del programa FONDAP entre los años 2000 y 2004 del cual fue Director subrogante durante parte del año 2002.Ha trabajado además como coordinador científico en el Programa Bicentenario de Ciencia y Tecnología parcialmente financiado por el Banco Mundial entre los años 2005 y 2008 subrrogando la dirección durante los años 2007 a 2009 durante el proceso de término del mismo e inicio del Programa de Investigación Asociativa.
En Agosto de 2011 asume como Directora del Programa de Investigación Asociativa de CONICYT.
Isabel Meneses is a Biologist who graduated from the Universidad de Chile. She obtained her PhD in Botany from the University of Hawaii in 1989. She worked as a researcher at the Universidad Católica del Norte, in Chile, between 1990 and 1993, and later on conducted her post–doctoral studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1993–1996).Meneses has been a scientific coordinator for different CONICYT programs. In 1996, she joined the FONDAP Program for Marine Biology and Oceanography –headed by Dr. Juan Carlos Castilla– from its inception.
Later, she coordinated FONDECYT projects in the areas of Earth Science, Agronomy, and Animal Health and Production. She took on the responsibility of coordinating the complementary FONDECYT lines, and then she was coordinator of the FONDAP Program between 2000 and 2004 (she was also FONDAP acting director for part of 2002).Isabel Meneses worked as scientific coordinator of the Bicentennial Program for Science and Technology, –with partial funding– from the World Bank between 2005 and 2008, was acting director of the Program between 2007 and 2009, when it came to an end, and the Associative Research Program was established.
In August 2011, she became Director of CONICYT’s Associative Research Program.
