With the presence of Minister of Health, Dr. Pedro Garcia Aspillaga and Eric Goles Chacc, president of the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research, will officially launch the new National Fund for Research and Development in Health (FONIS).

The ceremony will be held on Wednesday 31 March 2004 to 11:00 hrs. in the Chilean Academy of Medicine, Institute of Chile. Almirante Montt 454 (MONJITAS, everything. Metro Arts)

On the occasion will be delivered, also, the guidelines of the call to the first contest that makes this new Fund and will enter into force on the same day.
FONIS

The program is an initiative born of a joint effort between the Ministry of Health and CONICYT and seeks to bring together relevant research and development to improve the health of the population.

The goal is to have FONIS research needed to improve decision-making in health, from the policy level to the level of clinical decision.

Also seeks to promote and develop the capabilities of people to perform these applied research incorporating the care task.
