“La fiebre del oro puede venir nuevamente”, así lo considera el académico del Departamento de Geología de la Universidad de Chile, Carlos Palacios. Por tal razón se embarcó en la tarea de desarrollar una tecnología de exploración simple que abarata costos y permite encontrar depósitos cubiertos del codiciado metal.

 

 

En plenos años de esplendor de la dominación incaica, los picunches, exclusivos habitantes de Chile central, eran obligados a producir oro, lo que los incentivó a depurar técnicas y trabajar en lavaderos e inclusive en la explotación de tres minas. LA RUTA DEL ORO

Cuando una roca se erociona suelta el grano de oro y como este es un metal dúctil y maleable, en la medida que se transporta va cambiando de forma. Bajo esa premisa se realizó este trabajo, en el que se logró desarrollar un método simple que logra a partir del análisis de la forma del cristal y a través de estudios geo químicos, determinar a qué distancia se encuentra del depósito madre y de qué naturaleza es.

En diciembre del año pasado los medios de comunicación dieron amplia cobertura al supuesto hallazgo en nuestro país, del yacimiento aurífero más grande del mundo, el cual estaría ubicado en la Cordillera de los Andes, al este de Copiapó y a 675 km al norte de Santiago. Así lo señalaron integrantes de la propiedad Minera Vulcano, quienes explicaron que tal reserva tendría una explotación cercana al millón de toneladas, lo que aseguraría una vida productiva del mineral cercana a los 400 years old.
