The Center for Innovation and Development of Wood (CIDM) was awarded first place in the architecture contest draft sustainable housing, called “Colonel Sustainable Neighborhood”.
As reported in the official website of the Catholic University, these homes are an innovative, that they consider “the application of social, economic and environmental and contribute to improving the quality of life of its inhabitants, promoting socio-spatial, job retraining, the efficient use of energy and environmental education”.
This is a neighborhood where will be built near 700 sustainable housing and expandable, corresponding to three types: Solidarity Fund I, which are characterized by 50m2 and cost 500 UF housing; Solidarity Fund II, on 65m2 and a value of 700 UF; and, last, the DS-40, with 75m2 and 900 UF. Also, the project includes more than four acres of parks, squares and public spaces for community use.
The proposal, delivered by the team that won the competition, Paula Martinez, Cristian Scheleff, Andres Sierra, Manuel Brahm, Gonzalo Escobar and Rafaela Behrens-, incorporates bioclimatic design strategies, and building systems and wood ventilated enclosures, Fondef developed D06i1034 “The Good House”, useful for thermal comfort of the home, both winter and summer, well as saving energy demand of these.
“Colonel Sustainable Neighborhood” was organized by a public-private partnership between the Ministry of Housing and Urban, Minvu, Transelec S.A.. and A Roof for Christ Foundation.
