Fondecyt funded study to predict metabolic ills

Newborns less than two kilos and more than four well not synthesize nitric oxide in the womb, thus changing its DNA.

 

The research team of the Catholic University of Chile, gynecologist led by Paola Casanello, research on the two groups (Baby with two kilos of birthweight and others with more than four) you may have some difficulty with the synthesis of nitric oxide, an element essential for maintaining vascular tone and blood flow maternal and, when there, decreases the caliber of veins and arteries.

 

Another point of research is to seek out what the placental epigenetic modifications are reversible. If found, could prevent the risk of these children to develop disease as adults.
